Corporate Branding

Corporate Branding

Agriculture, community, location, and history are the main concepts embodied in Niagara-on-the-Lake’s corporate logo.  While the Town’s Coat of Arms is used for official, legal documents, the logo was designed to put a fresh face on the Town’s many programs and services.

The graphic was the culmination of an extensive work-plan by a special advisory committee of Council initiated in late 2011 following a key recommendation of the Town’s Strategic Plan. Members of the committee studied existing demographic and marketing research, and undertook a series of public consultations – including resident, visitor and student surveys. All of the data was combined into an overall position statement, which was then used to guide the graphic design process.

The logo design, which was developed by Symetric Productions of St. Catharines, attempts to capture the essence of the Town’s enviable location, agricultural vitality and proud heritage. The green agricultural rows signify our five communities – Old Town, Queenston, St. Davids, Glendale and Virgil – coming together within the natural beauty of our rural areas.

The blue font and water symbol signify the surrounding waters. The flow of both the green rows and the staggered text represent how our agricultural lands and communities – nestled under the protection of the Niagara Escarpment – flow down to meet Lake Ontario and the mouth of the Niagara River. The establishment date of 1781 speaks to the Town’s rich and storied past.
