PRESENTATIONS AT THE JUNE 27, 2016, TOWN COUNCIL MEETING:

Grinder Pumps in St. Davids
Council received a presentation from a representative of the St. Davids Ratepayers Association regarding grinder pumps. Following the delegation, Council approved a resolution stating '​That staff further investigate on the feasibility and cost for the Town to rebate the LAS insurance program costs for the original properties that required a grinder pump at the original build out of the St. Davids sewer installation.​​'

Overview of Town's Noise By-law
The Town's Manager of Enforcement/Chief Building Official provided Council with an overview of the Town's Noise By-law 4588-12.

Update on NOTL Medical Centre
A representative from the Niagara-on-the-Lake Medical Centre Hub presented information to Council on its initiatives and proposed expansion to the existing medical offices and pharmacy.

OFFICIAL PLAN - DRAFT #3 

Town Council held a statutory open house at the NOTL Community Centre on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, to hear from community members regarding the third draft of the new Official Plan. The draft is available on the Town's website for viewing, and comments are requested by Friday, July 15, 2016. See the MyPlan page for details.

At its June 27, 2016, meeting, Town Council approved:

Zoning By-law and Site Plan Amendments for Peller Estates Wines at 290 John Street East.​

The 2017 Council Meeting schedule, which is posted on the Town's website.

A Terms of Reference for the Town's Canada Sesquicentennial Committee and support in principle for the Committee's proposed budget.

Council Motions

Councillor Bau-Coote - ​To support the City of St. Catharines' resolution that the process of awarding the Tragically Hip with the Order of Canada be expedited. 

Councillor Disero - That Council calls upon the Ontario Ministry of Transportation to implement measures to address the increase in invasive Phragmites Australis along provincial highways.

Councillor Collard - That the Region of Niagara begin water quality testing at all NOTL beaches where swimming is known to occur.

  SENIOR CITIZENS STRAWBERRY SOCIAL - Approximately 320 seniors attended the Town's annual Strawberry Social at the Community Center on June 13.  Thank you to Town Council, staff and community volunteers for helping to make the event such a success. Special thanks to Vince and Eileen Pillitteri at Seaway Farms for generously donating the berries!  
 
LIVE LEARN JAZZ - The Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library and TD Niagara Jazz Festival presents "Live Learn Jazz" on July 6 and July 27.
