Operating and Capital Budget Presentation 
Manager of Finance, Kyle Freeborn, presented Committee members with a brief presentation outlining the proposed 2018 Operating and Capital Budget.

The following presentation was made at the October 16, 2017, Town Council Meeting:

Communities In Bloom Award Presentation  
Manager of Parks & Recreation, Kevin Turcotte, provided Council with a summary regarding the 2017 Communities In Bloom award ceremony whereby Niagara-on-the-Lake was presented with the top award in the 2017 Communities In Bloom International Challenge.

    The following was approved at the October 16, 2017, Town Council Meeting:

    Three (3) Zoning By-law Amendments: 

    • 1240 Line 6 Road 
    • 723 King Street 
    • 432 Dorchester Street

    Plan of Subdivision for lands known as 1 Rampart Street. 

    Two (2) tenders from:

    • Badger Daylighting Ltd. 
      2017 Sewer Flushing 
    • Provincial Construction 
      Commons Watermain Replacement from Wellington Street to Queens Parade to Ricardo Street

    Two (2) Terms of Reference for Committees approved by Council: 

    • Indoor Pool Committee 
    • Economic Development Working Group 

    By-laws regarding the Epp Drain and Routh Drain received final readings.

      The following motions were approved at the October 16, 2017, Town Council Meeting:

      Councillor Disero– That Council request staff to report on the financial implications of implementing a "children 12 and under ride free" pilot program on the Niagara-on-the-Lake transit system commencing January 1, 2018 to June 30, 2018 and further that staff report back in July 2018 on the results regarding increase or decrease of ridership and revenue. 

      Councillor Mazza - That the Lord Mayor, on behalf of Council, request the Region to install a third sign south west of the Concession 6 Road roundabout in order to ensure that visitors leaving the community can easily access the QEW. 

      Councillor Jim Collard - That the issues brought forward by the delegation regarding the Niagara-on-the-Lake Transit System in the John and Simcoe Street area be referred to staff to report back to Council by December, 2017.

      United Way Flag Raising Ceremony 
      Representatives from United Way joined Lord Mayor Pat Darte and Town staff for a flag raising ceremony at Niagara-on-the-Lake Town Hall on October 17, 2017.
