Open Air Burns

Open Air Burns

Permission is required to have a controlled open air burn in the Town.  This permission can only be granted to the person who will be in attendance at the burn, and can only be given by the Chief Fire Official or his or her designate. Residential burning is not allowed.

To obtain a permit, you are required to contact the Fire Department at 905-468-3266 during regular business hours. Leaving a message on the Town’s voice mail does not constitute permission being granted.

Please see the Guidelines for a Controlled Open Air Burn.

Residents are reminded that contravention of the Ontario Fire Code, specifically Section 2.6.3.4, can result in a fine of up to $50,000 upon conviction, and cost recovery by the Fire Department in the amount of $410 per hour per Fire Department vehicle.
