Two public meetings were held on September 11, 2017 for the following properties. Staff reports will be presented to Council at a future meeting.

  • 432 Dorchester Street - Application for Zoning By-law Amendment 
  • Zoning By-law Amendment - Accessory Buildings (Residential Development (RD) & Potential Development (PDH) Zone)


The following presentation was made at the September 18, 2017, Town Council Meeting:

Alzheimer Society Niagara Foundation 
A representative from the Alzheimer Society Niagara Foundation updated Council on statistics regarding dementia in the Niagara Region and provided information about the Coffee Break launch taking place on September 21, 2017 with Honourary Chair MP Rob Nicolson. 


The following motions were approved at the September 18, 2017, Town Council Meeting:

Councillor Disero– That correspondence from the St. Davids Residents Association be forwarded to the Municipal Heritage Committee for review regarding potential for a Heritage District in St. Davids. 

Councillor Disero – That Council request staff to arrange a meeting with the St. Davids Residents Association to discuss concerns related to traffic safety on Tanbark and Warner Road. 

Councillor Disero - That Council provide a letter of support to the Niagara-on-the-Lake Community Hub group regarding their applications to the Province for the purpose of a Surplus Property Transition Initiative Application. 

Councillor Disero - That the Lord Mayor and CAO meet with representatives from the Post Office to discuss possible solutions for their decision to "Return to Sender" any mail not marked with Post Office Boxes and that the invitation be extended to include the local MP and MPP. 

Councillor Disero - That staff forward comments from members of the Agricultural and Irrigation Committees in response to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA)'s document entitled, Implementation of Agricultural System Policies. 

Councillor Disero - That staff forward comments from members of the Agricultural and Irrigation Committees in response to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry's Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2017. 

Councillor Miele - That information regarding Municipal Accommodation Tax be provided to Council from staff in coordination with the Niagara-on-the-Lake Chamber of Commerce for a future Council meeting. 

Councillor Miele - Request the Region to extend the "slip lane" on Regional Road 55 north east of East West Line. 



The following was approved at the September 18, 2017, Town Council Meeting:

Revised Conditions of Final Approval for the proposed subdivision at 128-174 Anne Street. 

Plan of Subdivision for "Boatworks Subdivision", 554 Victoria Street and 44 Anne Street, be modified and approval be extended to September 18, 2019. 

Amendments to a staff report regarding the NPCA Living Landscape document, as well as documents/comments from the Agricultural and Irrigation Committees, be forwarded to the NPCA for review. 

That staff participate in a mediation of the appeal of Councils' decision to approve applications for an Official Plan Amendment and Zoning By-law Amendment for 1397 York Road and 242 and 246 Four Mile Creek Road and that Council retain legal counsel to support Staff in the appeal process. 

Zoning By-law 1436 Niagara Stone Road.

That Council authorize the Lord Mayor and Town Clerk to sign a Subdivision Agreement for the lands known as "Collection 8", located at 793 Warner Road.

The installation of an all-way stop at the intersection of King Street and Cottage Street. 

Two (2) Policies:

  • Fire Safety Inspection Frequency Schedule 
  • Volunteer Firefighter Mandatory Retirement 

Four (4) Tenders from:

  • O'Hara Trucking and Excavating Line 3 Road Watermain Replacement from Concession 1 Road to Niagara Parkway  
  • Peters Excavating Inc.
    King Street and Centre Street Watermain Replacement from John Street to Johnson Street and King Street to Regent Street 

  • Cotton Inc.
    Simcoe Street Watermain Replacement from Centre Street to Johnson Street 

  • Sewer Technologies
    Combined Sewer Overflow Trenchless Repairs 2017.

Alzheimer Society Flag Raising Ceremony 
The Honourable Rob Nicholson, MP, and representatives the Alzheimer Society of Niagara joined Lord Mayor Pat Darte, and Councillors Disero and Wiens for a flag raising ceremony at Niagara-on-the-Lake Town Hall on September 21, 2017.
